After taking a break to let golf fans focus on the Masters, the LPGA Tour has resumed with the JM Eagle LA Championship. This exciting event is taking place at El Caballero Country Club, located northwest of Los Angeles, marking the second time the tour has visited California this year.
The tournament features a notable purse of $3.75 million, with the victor set to earn $562,500. While the field includes four past champions and six of the top 10 players globally, it is worth noting that world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul and No. 2 Nelly Korda are not competing. Hyo Koo Kim, currently ranked No. 3, has emerged as a standout in the tournament, having secured two wins earlier this season.
Last year, Ingrid Lindblad from Sweden claimed her inaugural LPGA title, narrowly defeating Akie Iwai. However, Lindblad has faced challenges recently, as highlighted by Jill Painter-Lopez in an analysis of her current journey.
Additionally, the championship welcomes the top two ranked junior golfers, Asterisk Talley and Aphrodite Deng, who have been granted sponsor exemptions. Talley is fresh off an experience at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, where she had a mixed performance after a tough hole on the 12th.
