Belgian golfer Christophe Elians delivered an outstanding performance at the Sokhna Golf Club on Friday, clinching the title of the eighth round of the 2026 Egypt Golf Series. Elians set a new course record by finishing the tournament at a remarkable 16 under par.
On the final day of competition in Ain Sokhna, Elians showcased his skill with a stellar round of 10 under par. This achievement placed him comfortably ahead of the competition, with Switzerland’s Mauro Gilardi and Estonia’s Martin Su finishing tied for second place, each at 11 under par, five strokes behind the winner.
The tournament attracted participants from 14 different countries, showcasing the event's international appeal. Many golfers praised the organization of the event, highlighting the moderate weather, the quality of accommodations, and the high standard of the golf course as significant contributors to their performance. Players also expressed appreciation for Egypt's rich history and the warmth of its people throughout their stay.
The Egyptian Golf Federation, led by Omar Hisham Talaat, initiated this series at the start of the year with a vision of hosting major international tournaments while promoting golf tourism in Egypt. The federation aims to bolster the country's reputation on the global golf stage.
Among the participants were two members of the Egyptian national team, Mohamed Abou El-Ela, 21, and the 16-year-old Ali El-Din Salama. Their involvement is part of a broader initiative to provide young athletes with exposure to international competition and valuable experience.
With matches being broadcast live, the Egyptian Golf Federation intends to showcase the capabilities of its golf facilities to a wider audience. The venues are meticulously selected according to transparent standards, and their locations vary both inside and outside Cairo.

Looking ahead, the next round of the Egypt Golf Series is set to occur at the Sokhna Golf Club next week, followed by the tenth round at Dreamland and the eleventh round at Allegria, which will be incorporated into the Alps Tour competitions. This progression illustrates the federation's commitment to elevating golf in Egypt to new heights.
