Bryson DeChambeau captured his fifth LIV Golf championship in spectacular fashion, defeating Jon Rahm in a playoff at the 2026 LIV Golf South Africa event held at The Club at Steyn City.
Both golfers entered the playoff after finishing regulation tied at 26-under par. DeChambeau carded a final-round 66, while Rahm fired a remarkable 63 to force the extra hole.
The playoff concluded on the par-5 18th hole, where DeChambeau's superior course management proved decisive. After reaching the green in two shots, he secured victory with a two-putt birdie that Rahm couldn't match after finding a greenside bunker with his approach.
DeChambeau's triumph marks his second consecutive LIV Golf victory, establishing him as one of the tour's most consistent performers. The victory earned him $4 million from the tournament's substantial $20 million individual purse.
Rahm, despite his disappointing playoff finish, earned $2.25 million for his runner-up performance. The Spaniard's closing 63 represented one of the tournament's most impressive rounds.
Three players shared third place at 23-under par: Thomas Detry, Branden Grace, and Abraham Ancer. Each earned $1.1 million for their strong performances throughout the four-day competition.
Dean Burmester and David Puig finished tied for sixth at 22-under, collecting $650,000 each, while Carlos Ortiz claimed eighth place alone at 21-under, earning $525,000.
The team competition saw Crushers claim victory with a collective score of 76-under par across their four players over four rounds. Southern Guards GC finished second, just one shot behind, while Torque rounded out the podium in third place.
The tournament marked the fifth completed event of the 2026 LIV Golf season, with all 57 players finishing the competition due to the tour's no-cut format.
LIV Golf's next stop takes the tour to Mexico City, where players will compete for another substantial purse and valuable points toward the season-long championship race that culminates with a $6 million winner's prize.
