Bryson DeChambeau delivered an emotional victory at LIV Golf South Africa, claiming both individual and team honors in front of passionate crowds at Steyn City Golf Club in Johannesburg.

The Crushers GC captain defeated Jon Rahm of Legion XIII on the first playoff hole to secure his second straight LIV Golf individual championship. His team rallied from behind to edge the home favorite Southern Guards GC by a single stroke, capturing their league-record ninth regular-season team title.

DeChambeau was visibly moved by the victory and the overwhelming support from South African fans. "Just got to say I love everybody. Thank you for supporting," DeChambeau said. "South Africa was unbelievable. I mean, got to be the best LIV event we've ever had."

The tournament's success exceeded all expectations, with more than 100,000 tickets sold. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa attended to congratulate DeChambeau on his triumph.

"This is more than golf. This is about our country," said Gayton McKenzie, the South African Minister of Sport, Art and Culture who was instrumental in bringing the league to his homeland. "What LIV Golf has done, they've showcased our country like nothing I've ever seen."

The team championship provided high drama as the local Southern Guards appeared destined for victory at the tournament's midpoint. Dean Burmester opened with four consecutive birdies while teammate Branden Grace birdied three of his first four holes, building a commanding nine-stroke lead.

However, the Crushers mounted a spectacular comeback. Anirban Lahiri fired his second consecutive 8-under 63 to tie for the day's low round, while Charles Howell III and Paul Casey each played their final 12 holes bogey-free and 4-under par.

The momentum shift proved decisive when Lahiri closed with a birdie and Casey birdied his final two holes to give the Crushers the lead. Despite a late birdie from Charl Schwartzel, who battled back issues throughout the week, the Southern Guards fell just short.

The Crushers finished at a tournament-record 76-under par, edging the Southern Guards' 75-under total that would have won any previous LIV Golf event.

"I knew the last couple of holes it was kind of like between Bryson and myself, and he just at the end of the day made one better up-and-down than I did," Grace said. "What a phenomenal up-and-down he made on 18. Listen, it's one of the best weeks of my life, in my golfing career."

DeChambeau's clutch par save on the par-5 18th after an errant tee shot proved crucial, while Grace couldn't convert a 27-foot birdie attempt that would have forced a tie.

The tournament's success positions South Africa as a key destination for LIV Golf's continued global expansion, with the passionate fan support creating an atmosphere unlike any previous event on the circuit.
