Bryson DeChambeau has officially withdrawn from the LIV Golf Mexico City tournament, citing a wrist injury that he did not wish to exacerbate. The decision came on Sunday after what was a challenging performance for DeChambeau at Chapultepec Golf Club, where he was sitting 16 strokes behind the leader, Jon Rahm.
"I experienced some discomfort in my wrist during yesterday's round and have decided to withdraw from the final round of LIV Golf Mexico City to prevent further injury," DeChambeau stated in a social media post. He expressed disappointment about the outcome of the week, saying, "Not how I wanted this week to go."
DeChambeau was aiming to become the first player in LIV Golf history to win three consecutive tournaments. However, his ambitions were hampered, and he struggled throughout the event.
With DeChambeau's withdrawal, Rahm had already taken a two-shot lead heading into the final round in Mexico City. Combining that with the backdrop of uncertainty surrounding the league, Rahm’s mindset remained unchanged as he reflected on his performance, stating, "It changes absolutely nothing. The goal is to win every week."

This marks another challenge for DeChambeau, who only recently returned from missing the cut at the Masters. He faced difficulties there, particularly with a triple bogey on his final hole after needing two shots to escape a bunker.
The LIV Golf series is facing uncertainties as well, amidst discussions about its financial future. Despite this, CEO Scott O'Neil reassured staff through a memo that the league is funded through the end of the year.
LIV Golf has announced plans to return to Chapultepec next year, promising excitement for fans and players alike. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on how these developments unfold, particularly for stars like DeChambeau and Rahm, who is proving to be a strong contender in these events.
