The PGTI Open 2026 delivered a thrilling finale as South Africa's MJ Daffue emerged victorious with a flawless final round, carding a 69 to finish at 21-under par 267. His one-stroke margin over India's Saptak Talwar and American Jhared Hack, who tied for second, underscored the intense competition at the Classic Golf & Country Club in Nuh on March 23.
"I am really pleased," said Daffue, reflecting on his win. "The first one gets something off your back, but this time, I believed I could do it. I knew I was comfortable, and I have brought some momentum from the last few weeks." The victory marked Daffue's second title in recent months, following his success on the HotelPlanner Tour, and propelled him to the top of the Road to Mallorca Rankings.
Daffue's mental fortitude played a key role in his triumph. "I have been patient," he shared. "I have been working with a sports psychologist, and my motto has been 'dogged, determination and patience'—and that helped me out there today." Starting the final round with a four-shot lead, Daffue navigated a slow start before reigniting his charge with a birdie on the ninth and an eagle on the par-five 14th.
Saptak Talwar, who entered the day in third place, battled through a shaky start before mounting a fierce comeback. "I started off a little tentative on the first eight holes today," Talwar admitted. "But I was proud of the fight I showed on the last 10 holes." His resurgence included five birdies on the back nine, highlighted by a clutch 10-foot putt on the 13th. "The birdie on the 13th was the turning point for me today," he noted. "It set me up for a good finishing stretch."
Talwar's runner-up finish earned him Rs 70,30,200, cementing his lead in the PGTI Order of Merit. Jhared Hack, the season opener winner, matched Talwar's 20-under 268 with a bogey-free 65, securing second place in the merit list with earnings of Rs 64,96,800.
As the tour shifts focus to the Indian Open, Talwar's recent form and strategic reset position him as a contender. Meanwhile, Daffue's victory reinforces his rising stature in global golf, leaving fans eager to see if he can sustain his momentum in upcoming events.
