In an impressive move for women's golf, Chevron has announced a substantial increase to the purse for the LPGA major championship, elevating it to $9 million. This marks a significant $5.9 million rise since Chevron assumed title sponsorship in 2022, and comes just days after another tournament also saw its purse increased by $1 million.
The excitement builds as this week's tournament, hosted at Memorial Park Golf Course, now offers the winner a prize of $1.35 million. Notably, participants who do not make the cut can expect to receive $10,000 to assist with their expenses.
Further enhancing the overall experience for the players, each competitor will have access to a Cadillac courtesy car during the event. Additionally, past champions are given the privilege of driving a Bentley and enjoying a complimentary stay at the Post Oak Hotel, recognized as Texas' only Forbes Five-Star Hotel and Spa.
This tournament represents the first time the Chevron championship is being held at Memorial Park Golf Course, which is a prestigious venue frequently hosting the PGA Tour's Texas Children's Houston Open. The enhancements to the purse and player perks signify Chevron's ongoing commitment to promoting women's golf and elevating the profile of the LPGA tour.
