In an exhilarating conclusion to the 2025 LIV Golf Dallas tournament, Patrick Reed clinched his inaugural victory with the LIV Golf tour after overcoming a challenging four-man playoff. The event unfolded at the Maridoe Golf Club this Sunday, where Reed triumphed against fierce competition from Louis Oosthuizen, Paul Casey, and Jinichiro Kozuma. His decisive birdie on the first playoff hole marked the culmination of a significant achievement in his career.
"I think the biggest relief is finally winning in my home state," said Reed. "They popped that news to me that I haven't won in Texas, so to finally get that done meant a lot. Obviously to get my first win here, part of LIV, meant so much to me." Reed's elation was evident as he celebrated this pivotal moment in front of a home crowd, reflecting both personal and professional milestones.
Road to victory wasn't without its challenges. Reed initially held a commanding lead of five strokes in the final round, but the pressures of a hot day in the Dallas-Fort Worth area led to a series of setbacks for the golfer. He encountered five bogeys on the front nine, however, a resilient back nine performance that saw him play even-par steadied his game and earned him a chance to compete in a playoff.
"I tried to mess it up. After making birdie on the first, I seemed to leave every putt short, and just kind of putting pretty tentative," Reed noted, remarking on the mental hurdles he faced even leading up to his victory. Despite a last attempt to seal the win with a putt that fell short, Reed's perseverance paid off. "When I had that downhill one, I thought I left it short too, but making birdie on the last always helps," he added, capturing the thrill of the moment.
While Reed celebrated his victory, the day also marked the end of Jon Rahm's impressive top-10 streak, finishing T-11 after consistently placing in the top tier of every LIV Golf event since he joined the league last year. Rahm’s performance highlighted the competitive nature of the tournament, where anyone could step up and take the win at any moment.
Meanwhile, Bryson DeChambeau's Crushers GC celebrated as they continued their dominant streak by winning the team competition for the third consecutive week. They outperformed Dustin Johnson's 4 Aces GC by a convincing seven shots. DeChambeau expressed his pride in his team's performance, stating, "I'm super proud of the way everybody played. We all finished pretty much top 10. I think 11th for Baan [Anirban Lahiri], but it's close enough. We just played stellar golf today." His enthusiasm for the achievement was palpable, emphasizing the positive atmosphere surrounding the event.
"To three-peat here in Dallas in my hometown is fantastic. The people showed up, they showed out, and what a great atmosphere. This is what LIV Golf is all about. Man, I'm super pumped for more to come," DeChambeau added, solidifying his excitement for the future of LIV Golf.
Looking forward, LIV Golf is gearing up for its next event: LIV Golf Andalucia, scheduled for July 11-13 at the Valderrama Club in Spain. As the competition intensifies, players and fans alike anticipate what these upcoming events will bring, as the LIV Golf series continues to evolve and captivate audiences worldwide.
