Saptak Talwar delivered a masterful performance at the Kalhaar Blues & Greens Golf Club, claiming victory at the DP World PGTI Indorama Ventures Open with a commanding two-shot margin on Sunday.
The 27-year-old from Jaypee Greens Golf Resort posted rounds of 68-71-69-70 to finish at 10-under 278, securing his second professional title in the $300,000 tournament. His final-round 70 proved sufficient to hold off a charging field in challenging conditions.
"After my birdie on the 14th and par on the 15th, I was quite confident," said Talwar. "The best aspect of my game was keeping the errors out as I dropped just four bogeys through the tournament on a course that was very challenging."
The victory earned Talwar a winner's check worth $48,000 (INR 43,20,000), propelling him from 44th place to the top of the DP World PGTI Order of Merit with season earnings of INR 46,00,200.
Austria's Christoph Bleier mounted a late charge with a final-round 69 to claim second place at 8-under 280, while Veer Ahlawat and teenager Kartik Singh shared third at 7-under 281 after both carded closing 70s.
"Playing in tough conditions overseas on the HotelPlanner Tour has made me a complete player, and my ball control has also improved. The international exposure has been invaluable. All of that has contributed to helping raise my game, which finally led to my win," added Talwar.
The Indian golfer showcased his strategic prowess by capitalizing on the par-5 holes, reaching the greens in two shots on both the fifth and eighth holes before securing two-putts. His only major setback came at the ninth hole, where he found water and recorded a bogey.
Talwar's recovery proved crucial when he executed a brilliant up-and-down for birdie on the par-5 14th hole, effectively sealing his victory. The shot demonstrated the composure that separated him from the field during the final round.
Frenchman Clement Sordet finished fifth at 6-under 282, while overnight co-leader Dhruv Sheoran, who had shared the lead with Talwar after three rounds, slipped to tied-sixth at 5-under 283.
The tournament marked Talwar's return to Kalhaar after a three-year absence, having last competed at the venue in 2023. His steady progression throughout all four rounds highlighted his maturity as a competitor on the demanding course.
With this victory, Talwar has established himself as the early frontrunner in the 2026 DP World PGTI season. His combination of international experience and improved course management positions him as a strong contender for the season-long Order of Merit title.
The next stop on the DP World PGTI tour will test whether Talwar can maintain his momentum and build on this breakthrough performance.
