Stewart Cink delivered a breathtaking performance at the Senior PGA Championship held at Concession Golf Club, carding a remarkable 9-under 63 to clinch the title by an impressive six strokes. This victory marks Cink's first major title on the senior circuit and his third win of the season on the PGA Tour Champions.
Entering the final round just one shot off the lead, Cink quickly made his mark by starting with an eagle on the par-5 seventh hole. He then fired back-to-back birdies to finish the front nine strong, establishing a commanding lead. One of the standout moments of his round came at the par-3 11th, where he rolled in a 35-foot birdie putt that showcased his skill and precision.
Cink demonstrated flawless play during a critical five-hole stretch, registering five birdies as he separated himself from the field. As the day progressed, he added to his total with a solid birdie on the par-5 13th and an 18-foot birdie on the 14th, propelling him even further ahead.
Finishing the tournament with a total score of 19-under 269, Cink fell just short of matching Sam Snead's record of 20-under par set in 1973. Notably, Cink has maintained an impressive record, not recording a single round over par during his first 16 rounds on the PGA Tour Champions this season, which also includes a runner-up finish and a tie for sixth place as his least favorable results.
Ben Crane made a solid showing in his Senior PGA Championship debut, closing with a 68 to secure solo second place. South African Keith Horne, who began the final round with the lead, faltered with a double bogey on the par-4 12th, ultimately falling out of contention.
Australian players Scott Hend and Steve Allan rounded out the top contenders, both finishing with final rounds of 71 to tie for third place. With this victory, Cink not only adds to his legacy but also showcases the competitive spirit that continues to drive top players in the senior ranks.
